My name is Brett Cooper, and I am running for Plano City Council Place 5. Our family moved to Plano in 2018 and we have been residents for over 4 years now. We are proud to call this city home and a place that we would like to raise children. I have been together with my husband for over 14 years. I work as an adolescent medicine physician at Children's Medical Center and UT Southwestern, providing specialist care to a vulnerable and underserved population across the Metroplex. Locally, I have been involved as a youth chaperone for GALA North Texas, as well as a long time eucharistic minister at my local parish. I have served on numerous committees for the Dallas County Medical Society and Texas Medical Association, including a term on the Board of Trustees for TMA and a current member of the Board of Trustees for Dallas County Medical Society. I am running for City Council because I want to ensure that Plano remains a City of Excellence, as well as a place that provides opportunities for all citizens to live, work, and play in a diverse, inclusive, and thriving environment. While on council, I hope to be a responsible steward of your tax dollars while guiding future development. I would like council to prioritize policies that improve the health and well-being of all citizens at all stages of life. Lastly, I would like council to explore ways to improve mobility throughout the city, including modes of transportation such as buses, bicycles, and alternative modes of transportation.
